South Side Cyclery

South Side Cyclery has been part of St. Louis cycling life since 1933. The longstanding shop on Gravois Avenue passed from its third-generation family owners to the Zimmer-Kakouris family in 2021, carrying forward a history that extends across generations of local riders.

The store sells bicycles, helmets, locks, and other riding equipment, supported by a full repair workshop. Staff members Deanna and Tim are mentioned for spending time on bike selection, fitting, and follow-up adjustments. Buyers describe learning how to clean and maintain their bicycles, not simply collecting a new machine at the register.

Customer memories reach far back into the shop's history. One former student recalls riding a bike supplied through a racing-team sponsorship in 1984. More recent offerings described by customers include Cannondale mountain bikes, everyday cycling accessories, and Levy Plus electric scooters.

The mix of practical service, equipment advice, and local history gives South Side Cyclery a recognizable place in the community. The shop remains principally a bicycle business, though electric-scooter products have also appeared in its inventory. Alongside conventional bikes, the shop has included electric-scooter products in a broader selection of cycling equipment and accessories.
