Bike World

Bike World has been part of downtown Ames cycling since 1979, with a store on South Third Street supplying everyday bikes, performance models, and electric-assist options. Its lines include Trek, Cannondale, and Jamis, and electric examples have included Trek Verve+, FX+ 1S, Charter+, and a Borrego+ fat-tire model. Staff help riders choose sizes and styles, and can arrange delivery to the shop when a particular bike is not in stock.

The repair bench provides tire, brake, drivetrain, wheel, and tune-up service, along with installation of accessories. Helmets, clothing, components, and even disc golf products broaden the retail selection. Beyond the store, group rides welcome cyclists of different abilities and connect customers with the central Iowa riding community.

This Ames location is distinct from Bike World’s related store in Clive. The South Third Street team works with local events and maintains a weekday-and-Saturday retail schedule. Riders researching electric bicycles can compare those models alongside traditional cycles, while repair customers have an established shop for general mechanical needs. Any motor-system-specific service should be confirmed with the staff before drop-off.
