Ten Speed Spokes

Ten Speed Spokes has been helping people explore Newport by bicycle since 1970. Its Elm Street shop combines bike sales, rentals, accessories, and repair service, making it useful to year-round riders and visitors planning a day on the island. The selection includes Specialized, Trek, and Electra bicycles, and electric-bike rentals give customers another way to experience local roads.

A visitor renting a bike may need more than a set of wheels, and the staff are known for sharing route ideas and practical advice about where to ride. The workshop also handles the everyday interruptions that can spoil a trip, from flat tires and stubborn pedals to a quick tire inflation. Several accounts describe riders getting help on the same day they needed it.

Decades in the same downtown neighborhood have given the shop a strong connection to Newport’s cycling scene. Customers can pick up riding essentials, arrange a rental, or bring in a bicycle that needs attention without visiting separate businesses. Ten Speed Spokes is especially suited to people who want to discover the island at bicycle speed, with local guidance and mechanical support close at hand.
