Durham Cycles

Durham Cycles is an independent bike shop at 756 9th Street in Durham, offering bicycles for recreation, commuting, trail use, and more specialized riding. Its brands include Marin, Jamis, Surly, Norco, and Seven Cycles. Electric bicycles are part of its business through both rental offerings and service support, making the shop relevant to pedal-assist riders as well as owners of traditional bikes.

Visitors can rent road, mountain, or electric bicycles on daily and weekly terms. The workshop handles tune-ups, replacement components, and repairs, with published guidelines for the electric bikes it accepts. Another specialty is bike fitting using a 3D motion-capture system and an experienced fitter. Staff also advise on local trails, sizing, and equipment. Since different battery and motor systems have varying service requirements, owners of an existing e-bike should check compatibility before arranging electrical work.

The shop publishes hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday; Monday is closed. The Ninth Street location also carries cycling apparel and accessories. The business concentrates on bicycles and e-bikes rather than street motor scooters.
