A bike shop in Ferndale, Metropolis Cycles focuses on bicycles and e-bikes with sales, service and custom work at its Livernois Street location. The shop is known for technical depth, particularly around custom wheel builds and full custom bike builds, with staff taking time to explain component choices. One team member, Ted, is named repeatedly in visitor notes, generally in connection with knowledgeable service and build work. The repair bench handles tune-ups, adjustments and more involved mechanical jobs, and the shop supports riders who want something beyond an off-the-rack bike. Shoppers describe a straightforward, enthusiast-oriented atmosphere rather than a hard sell. For riders considering a custom build or a carefully set-up stock bike, the combination of wheel-building expertise, custom options and ongoing service makes it a distinctive stop. Similarly named shops in other cities are unrelated to this Ferndale business. The shop also takes on interesting one-off projects, and its repair scheduling accommodates riders who depend on their bikes for daily transportation.
