REI Columbia at 6100 Dobbin Road, Suite B is the co-op’s Howard County store, combining a full-service in-store bike shop with the co-op’s large outdoor retail floor. REI’s own bike-shop page for the Columbia store describes expert technicians offering a comprehensive range of services to tune, repair, and enhance the performance of mountain, road, hybrid, and e-bikes, with free inspections and estimates, custom services, and quick turnaround; co-op members receive 20 percent off bike-shop services. A walk-in’s chain was reconnected off the cuff by the bike guys; another got one-on-one help and left happy; and a technician came outside to examine a new bike and advise on attaching a trailer for towing kids. Free inspections and estimates apply across the full service menu. The store is clean and wide-ranging with knowledgeable staff across departments. Hours run Monday through Saturday 10am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm. The bike shop can be reached at (410) 872-1742.
